I
am Mary Migra. I have been employed full-time with
the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction
since 1984. The first 13 years in Parole, then at
Grafton Prison as Social Work Supervisor in charge
of Recovery Services and currently as a Mental health
Administrator at Lorain Correctional Institution.
I have counseled people in one capacity or another
for the past 20 years. I have volunteered with the
Cuyahoga Rape Crisis Center handling
hotline and advocacy for victims. I am involved with
the gay and lesbian community and direct practice
work with that population. I receive extensive training
through the department as well as by attending workshops,
which keeps me updated and aware of new techniques
and research.
Currently, I have an Adolescent
Anger Management Program (for
Lorain County Juvenile Court on Tuesday, from
7-8:00 PM for 15 yr and younger, on Thursday
from 7:30-8:30 PM for 16 yr and older) to
accommodate the different work and school schedules
of my clients. This is a nine week program which
involves weekly group meetings consisting of
videos, education, confrontation, enhancing communication
skills, learning triggers, formulating a plan
of action and most importantly accepting responsibility
for their actions.
