I believe that all persons who enter the counseling experience carry within themselves the ability to resolve their issue. My job is to bring the therapeutic toolbox to the counseling session and help empower them to decide which tool will best be able to help them do the job.
Philosophy
of Counseling
I believe that all of us face times in our lives
when we deal with an issue, which we find cannot
be resolved solely through the use of our personal
skills and abilities. In such a situation, we often
turn to a counselor for help. At this point, I believe
it is the counselor's job to help these people dearly
identify what the problems are, how they are impacting
them, what can be done about them and then assist
these people in the implementation of changes they
have chosen to make in their lives. In this way,
they can be helped to regain control of their lives
and be strengthened by the knowledge that they have
been able to resolve the issue.

Background and Experience
I have spent my entire adult life working with a wide
variety of people and issues in both group and individual
settings. Group settings have included adult survivors
of sexual abuse as well as the offenders themselves;
adolescence in and out of custodial settings; recovering
alcoholics; and adult children of alcoholics. My work
with individuals has encompassed victims of domestic
violence, sexual abuse, substance abuse, family dysfunction,
as well as couples counseling.
