Hello,
my name is Dave Zachau. I am a licensed counselor
and have been a therapist since 1979. My 29 years
of professional experience includes over 5 years
working at a community mental health center and about
25 years working as a counselor at Psych & Psych
Services.
I received my graduate school training at Edinboro
State College of Pennsylvania obtaining a Master
of Arts degree in professional psychology in 1979.
Over the past twenty-nine years I have gained experience
counseling people with a wide variety of problems
including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, marital
problems, and problems associated with adjustment
disorders. I have a particular interest in doing
marital/couple's therapy. Aside from my standard
counseling case load I have also developed some special
areas of professional interest.
In 1987 I started the Lorain
County Sexual Offender Treatment Program. This is a group therapy treatment
program for perpetrators of sexual abuse against
children. This specialized counseling program is
run in close cooperation with the Adult Parole
Authority (APA) and is partially funded with grant
monies from the Ohio Adult Parole Authority. In
1997, we added the Cleveland
Sexual Offender Treatment Program, which offers treatment services to APA
supervised sexual offenders in the Cleveland area.
In 2007 we also began a program providing sex offender
treatment services to the Cuyahoga
County Probation Department. Additionally, I do much consultation
work with the Ohio Adult Parole Authority, counseling
and evaluating probationers and parolees referred
by their parole/probation officers.
Since 1992 I have also been performing psychological
evaluations for area police departments. I conduct "new
hire" evaluations as well as "fitness-for-duty" evaluations.
Currently I work with the Lorain, North Ridgeville,
Norwalk,Greenwich, and Sheffield Village Police
Departments. I also offer my evaluation services
to the Lorain County Sheriff Department.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with
my wife, and boss, Diana Santantonio. My favorite
pass-times include jogging, fiddling with computers,
visiting American Civil War battlefields, and reading
about the American Civil War. I have a son, Alex.
Alex was our original web-page designer and is
responsible for getting us on-line, computerized,
and ready for the 21st century!
I am excited about the possibility of networking
with other professionals who might stop at our
web-site while surfing the "web". Anyone
who has any questions they wish to direct to me,
or to any of the staff, can feel free to use our
Message Board and I will respond promptly. . .
that is as long as my computer is healthy!
