Biography

Gwendolyn Ferguson, MSSA, LISW

Safety Officer, Outpatient Therapist

Gwendolyn Ferguson provides services here at Psych and Psych as a Licensed Independent Social Worker serving individuals, families, and couples. She also facilitates a monthly Anger Management education and skill building class. She earned her Bachelor's Degree (BSW) in 2019 from Ashland University with two additional areas of specialty study focusing Child and Family Studies and Gerontology. Gwendolyn continued to complete her Master Degree of Social Science Administration (MSSA) in Social Work with Health Policy focus from Case Western Reserve University in 2020. She acquired her initial social work license in May 2019 and has since achieved her Independent designation in the state of Ohio in September 2024. Through her career thus far, Gwendolyn has gathered experience where able which have shaped her career today. These include working in courts with kids and families, hospitals focusing women's health, labor and delivery, and Veterans. When working with clients, Gwendolyn finds herself utilizing various techniques such as Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Insight Oriented Therapy, Grief, Family Therapy, while supporting the client to obtain coping skills. She often treats individuals struggling with symptoms of Generalized Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, Adjustment Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder (i/ii), Anger/Conduct/Criminal history, Self-Esteem, Personality Disorders, Grief, among others needs and diagnoses. Gwendolyn works with clients aged 17 years old through age 64 years old. She shares the belief that everyone has a unique journey and her role is to support and guide her clients as each individual has more than one path to choose to find homeostasis within their self and environment.
