Biography

Matthew R. Welich is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who provides individual and couples counseling exclusively to adults 18  and older. He offers a warm, grounded, and collaborative space where clients can feel heard and supported in making meaningful change.

Matt’s primary approach is person-centered, rooted in empathy, authenticity, and nonjudgmental support. He also uses existential therapy to explore meaning, purpose, responsibility, and choice, and REBT when helpful to challenge rigid beliefs and ease distress.

​

A practicing and affirming Catholic Christian formed in the Jesuit tradition at John Carroll University, Matt welcomes clients who wish to include a biblical perspective in counseling and strives to “be a person for others.”

In recovery from alcoholism, Matt understands the courage it takes to seek help and may integrate 12-step principles when appropriate. He is committed to LGBTQ+ inclusion in the Church, the counseling office, and his personal life.

As a practicing and affirming Catholic Christian, Matt offers Christian counseling for clients who want to integrate a biblical perspective into their work. Formed in the Jesuit tradition at John Carroll University, he carries forward the call to “become a person for others.”
 

Matt considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients toward greater, self-acceptance, clarity, and growth.
