Biography

Matthew Welich, LPCC

Outpatient Therapist

Matthew R. Welich is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) who works exclusively with adults (18+) in both individual and couples counseling. With a warm and grounded presence, Matt offers a compassionate, client-centered approach rooted in Person-Centered Therapy. At the heart of his work is the belief that healing unfolds in an atmosphere of authenticity, empathic understanding, and unconditional positive regard—where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted.

Primarily a non-directive, Person-Centered therapist, Matt completed advanced training in Person-Centered Couples Counseling in the Spring of 2024. He is passionate about helping couples deepen emotional connection, improve communication, and navigate challenges in a supportive, nonjudgmental space.

For clients seeking a more structured, active-directive approach, Matt integrates Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), having completed an REBT Masterclass in the Spring of 2025. This integration provides practical tools to help clients examine and shift limiting beliefs, manage emotional distress, and create meaningful behavioral change.

Matt is also actively engaged in a 12-step recovery program and brings this lived experience into the therapeutic space, offering specialized support for clients dealing with addiction and co-occurring mental health concerns.

A practicing Catholic and LGBTQ+ friendly, Matt welcomes the exploration of spirituality, religion, philosophy, and politics—always at the client’s discretion. When appropriate and desired, Matt encourages thoughtful dialogue about current events to:
1. Model respectful and healthy disagreement
2. Offer a safe space for conversations often avoided in personal relationships
3. Lower the temperature of the political climate
4. Reinforce shared humanity across diverse perspectives

Above all, Matt is committed to supporting each client’s unique journey toward growth, clarity, and self-actualization.
