Biography

Matthew R. Welich is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor who works exclusively with adults 18 and older in individual and couples counseling. He offers a warm, grounded, and collaborative space where clients feel supported while gaining practical tools for change.
 

Matt’s primary counseling approach is person-centered: he emphasizes authenticity, nonjudgmental support, and empathic understanding so clients can feel heard, respected, and supported in their own capacity for growth.
 

Matt also draws from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy to help clients identify rigid or irrational beliefs, develop more flexible and rational ways of thinking, reduce emotional distress, and make meaningful behavioral changes.
 

Matt’s counseling style is relational, practical, and non directive. He trusts each client’s capacity for growth and draws from REBT when it can support meaningful change.
 

As a practicing and affirming Catholic Christian, Matt offers Christian counseling for clients who want to integrate a biblical perspective into their work. Formed in the Jesuit tradition at John Carroll University, he carries forward the call to “become a person for others.”
 

Matt is in recovery from alcoholism and, when helpful, integrates 12-step principles into counseling. He also supports LGBTQ+ inclusion in the Church, in the counseling office, and in his personal life.
 

Matt is dedicated to helping clients move toward greater clarity, self-acceptance, and growth.
